Financial services for you and your family across all the police forces in England and Wales

About Us

Aims

We are a member focused financial business that operates exclusively for the benefit of the police family. We provide a range of tailor-made savings accounts, loan products and other financial services that are only available through No1 CopperPot. We do not compromise the importance of good service over the need to make profits because our business is owned by you, the members.

So what’s in it for you? You can expect a healthy return, flexibility and security on all your savings. Similarly, our loans are straightforward with no hidden costs or charges.

There are a wealth of benefits to joining; life insurance at no cost to you, payroll deduction and a personal, friendly service are just examples of how we meet your financial needs in a clear and simple way.

Roots

Originally formed in 1986 by a group of Greater Manchester Police officers, the emphasis was on providing simple “lean and mean” financial products exclusively for police officers with a “no frills” approach.

From the roots of GMP, the Credit Union merged into North Wales and Cheshire and became No1 Police Credit Union. Similarly in 1989 the Leicester and Lincoln Constabulary Credit Unions were formed with the same aims and values. A later merger in 1996 saw the formation of the CopperPot Credit Union and subsequently they and No1 Police Credit Union became one to form the No1 CopperPot we know today.

We now operate in all forces across England and Wales and our services are available to all officers, including retired officers, police staff, PCSOs and their families.

No1 CopperPot is managed and controlled by an elected Board of Directors who all donate their services voluntarily. They are all members of the Credit Union and they represent the different needs of all of you; the members and work towards providing products and services that are tailor made for you and your family.

The role of the directors is to shape the direction and future of the Credit Union. They are responsible for ensuring we comply and operate under The Financial Services Authority guidelines and provide a safe, efficient operation.

We also have a Supervisory Committee who appoint the auditors who ensure we run within the policies set out by the Board, including monitoring transactions and generally making sure we are looking after your money as we should be.

Any member is eligible to stand for a position on the Board or one of the committees. If you are interested in becoming more involved with the Credit Union, please contact the office for more information.
